Inmate processing, release, and bond information
When someone is arrested in Nassau County, booking includes property inventory, medical screening, identification clearance, and cell assignment. Processing must be completed before release or visitation can be considered.
Release times vary after an inmate has been cleared for release. For cash bond, the full bond amount must be brought to the public reception area of the jail by certified or cashier’s check from a local bank subject to verification, or by money order payable to the Nassau County Clerk of Courts. Cash and credit cards are not accepted for cash bond.
For a surety bond, the bonding agency handles the release arrangements. For a civil charge with a purge amount, payment may be made at the jail public reception area by certified or cashier’s check or money order payable to the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office. Visitation, telephone, mail, and commissary
Nassau County Detention Facility visitation uses video visitation. Video visitation hours are 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Friends and family must pre-register and schedule through GettingOut.com.
