Roster limits and update timing

The online roster is not a full list of everyone held in the Cameron County Jail system. It lists people currently housed and those housed within the last seven days who have not yet been presented to court, are awaiting bail, or are serving sentences for state or local violations.

Federal prisoners and detainees are not included. The county says the list is updated every 2 hours and may contain errors because information can change often.

Visitation rules

Adult visitors must present valid photo identification. Accepted examples listed by the county include a Texas driver license, Texas DPS identification card, passport, military ID, U.S. immigration visa or border crossing card, or Matricula Consular.

Inmates are allowed at least two 20-minute visits per week, and at least one visitation period must be available during an evening or weekend. Days and times are set by the Sheriff and may change.

Cameron County uses NCIC for prepaid calling, messaging, and video visits. The county states that no incoming calls are received except voicemail messages to approved inmates, and each inmate gets phone access after booking is completed.

Video visits cost $0.30 per minute, messages cost $0.25 each, and picture or video messages cost $0.35 each. To add funds or manage communications, use the access the NCIC customer portal.

Money an inmate had at booking is deposited into the inmate trust fund. Family or friends may also deposit funds while the inmate is confined, but inmates cannot transfer funds to another inmate, and cash is not accepted through the mail.

Mail and property pickup

Mail must include the sender’s name and return address or it will be returned to the post office. Packages are not accepted.

Property pickup for family members is available on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The county states that inmates released from Carrizales receive property only if they are released before 5:00 p.m.; otherwise, pickup moves to the next business day.
