Property Tax Lookup/Payment Application

If you are paying for more than one property, the system also offers a Portfolio option so you can group multiple accounts for easier review.

  • Open the county payment application and search for the property account you need.
  • Review the current year amount due and any total amount due shown for the account.
  • Choose whether to pay all years due or make a partial payment.
  • Save the confirmation number and then verify with your financial institution that the transaction completed.

Important: A confirmation number shows an attempt to pay. Check with your financial institution to confirm the payment posted.

Deadlines and delinquency

Dallas County property taxes are due and payable on October 1. They become delinquent if they are not paid on or before January 31.

After January 31, state law requires penalty and interest to be added. If you mail a payment, the county uses the Post Office postmark date, not a meter date.

For delinquent accounts, Business Personal Property is turned over to the attorney on April 1, and all other property is turned over on July 1.

Partial payments and payment arrangements

If you cannot pay the full amount at once, the Dallas County Tax Office accepts partial payments in any amount and applies them to the balance due. Remaining unpaid amounts continue to accrue penalty and interest when applicable.

Qualified homeowners may have additional options, including an Over-65, Disabled, or Disabled Veteran installment plan, a Homestead Payment Agreement, or a deferral through the appraisal district.

For other arrangements on delinquent accounts, the county states that payment agreements may be handled through its collection firm. You can also review county tax office payment plan details at Payment Arrangements.

Statements, ownership, and exemptions

If you did not receive a tax statement, you can still check the amount due and pay through the online property tax application. You may also request help from the Tax Office by phone or email.

Address corrections, ownership issues, exemption questions, and tax deferral applications are handled through the local appraisal district. If your mortgage company did not receive the statement, the county advises contacting the mortgage company for more information.

Under Texas law, taxes follow the property. If you bought property and prior taxes are still due, your title company or Realtor may need to help you review what was handled at closing.
