This page helps with inmate search in Hillsborough County, Florida. It explains where to check current jail listings, what details the county publishes, and which jail contacts can help with the next step.

For most searches, start with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office HCSO Arrest Inquiry. If you need bond, jail location, or records help after a match, Detention Services and Inmate Records are the main county channels to use.

HCSO Arrest Inquiry

The main public lookup for a Hillsborough County inmate search is the county arrest database. Use the HCSO Arrest Inquiry to check people currently in jail and review charge information, bond amount, and a booking photo when one is available.

  • Name
  • Booking number
  • Booking date
  • Release date
  • Race
  • Sex
  • Date of birth

You can also narrow results by showing current inmates only, including arrest details, and sorting by booking date, booking number, or name.

  • Open the county search tool and enter the identifying details you have.
  • Review the matching booking record for custody status, charges, bond amount, and booking photo.
  • Save the exact name spelling and booking number for any bond, visitation, or account follow-up.

Coverage, timing, and access limits

HCSO says the online inquiry covers adult arrests with an electronic record dating back to January 1, 1995. The listing is updated every 30 minutes, and a new booking is usually added within 30 minutes after the information enters the jail management system.

For public users, a person remains in the listing for 90 days after release. Arrest information is a public record under Florida law unless it has been sealed or expunged.

An arrest listing does not mean the person was convicted. HCSO also says the database should not be relied on for legal action.

Full portal access is limited to law enforcement agencies and certain approved members of the bond industry, accredited media, and recognized State Bar associations.

Bond and jail follow-up

After you find the inmate record, use the county’s Posting Bond information for the next step.

Cash bonds and purges are accepted only in the exact amount. Money orders are also accepted. Credit and debit cards are not accepted. Bring a valid ID and have the inmate’s full name, correct spelling, and date of birth ready.

Bond payments are made at Orient Road Jail. For bond questions, HCSO directs the public to Inmate Records at (813) 247-8400.

Surety bonds are accepted only from registered bail bond agents.

Visitation, calls, and mail

Once you confirm the booking, the county’s Inmate Communications Services page explains calls, video visitation, mail, and related inmate communication options.

Telephone service in general population housing is typically available from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Video visitation is typically available from 9:30 a.m. to 8:45 p.m. Qualified in-person professional visits are available seven days a week from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

As of October 28, 2025, HCSO says onsite video visitation is closed and all video visitation services are remote. Personal inmate mail is sent to the Mail Processing Center at PO BOX 9115, Seminole, FL 33775-9115, while legal and privileged mail must still go to the jail where the inmate is housed.

Money and commissary

HCSO also publishes Jail Accounts and Canteen details for deposits, commissary, and care packages.

To fund an inmate account, you need facility locator number 233619, the inmate booking number entered without dashes, and the inmate’s name. Deposits can be made at jail lobby kiosks, online, by phone, or by mailing a money order to Aramark.

Deposits first satisfy any outstanding inmate debts before remaining funds are available for canteen purchases.

Care packages are limited to one per week and may be restricted based on the inmate’s status.

When you need more than the jail listing

The county search is a jail and arrest lookup. For statewide criminal history information, HCSO directs users to Florida Department of Law Enforcement Public Records at (850) 410-8109.

If a record has been sealed or expunged, it may not appear in public results. HCSO directs seal and expunge questions to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement process for record removal.
