This page helps you handle Property Tax tasks in Collin County, Texas, including looking up a tax account, checking payment status, finding the right office, and understanding when to use the Collin County Tax Account Lookup or the Collin Central Appraisal District.

Use the official county search and tax office pages for current account details, deadlines, payment options, and office contacts. This site is independent and does not provide legal, tax, or financial advice or guarantees.

Tax Account Lookup

If you want to check a bill, confirm whether taxes are paid, or pull up a recent statement, start with the county’s online search tool.

  • Account number from your tax statement, if you have it
  • Owner name, entered as last name followed by first name or first initial
  • Owner mailing address, entered as street number and street name
  • Property location, entered as street number and street name without the street type or direction

Use the search page to choose a search account type, decide whether to include inactive accounts, and filter by paid, unpaid, or both before you run the search.

  • Open the search property tax accounts page.
  • Pick the search method that matches the information you have.
  • Enter one of the accepted search fields exactly as requested on the page.
  • Complete the security check and submit the search.
  • Review the account record for tax details, payment status, and the recent statement feature.

Tip: For property location searches, do not add directions or street types such as Ave., Ln., or Dr.

Payment timing and options

Property tax statements are mailed in October and are due upon receipt. To avoid penalties, the county says taxes should be paid by January 31, 2026.

You can pay online, mail payment in the envelope that came with the statement, or pay at one of the county tax offices. Checks should be made payable to Collin County Tax Assessor - Collector.

For county payment guidance and general property tax information, use the Collin County property taxes page.

Appraisal district and exemptions

The tax office collects property taxes, but the appraisal district handles property values, exemptions, and ownership information in the appraisal records. If you need property value details or exemption forms, use the Collin Central Appraisal District.

You can review appraisal records and exemption information through the Collin Central Appraisal District website. The district says its property search is updated nightly.

To apply for a residence homestead exemption, the county directs applicants to the Central Appraisal District of Collin County at 250 W. Eldorado Pkwy, McKinney, TX 75069. The county states there is no fee to file the homestead exemption form.

Important: Faxed or emailed residence homestead applications are not accepted on the CCAD form shown here.

Refunds and special requests

Overpayment refunds must be requested by the remitter of payment. Once the request is received, the stated processing time is six to eight weeks.

Refunds tied to recalculations such as homestead exemptions or over-65 changes are mailed automatically. The county says those refunds will be mailed no later than sixty days after it receives the change from the Central Appraisal District.

Special requests such as tax certificates and SIT must be made at the McKinney office only. Refund requests may be faxed, mailed, or emailed to the Refunds Department at refunds@collincountytx.gov.

Tax rolls and public tax data

Collin County also offers tax roll data files for broader record review. The Tax Roll includes current taxpayers for the most recent tax year and delinquent taxpayers for the current tax year and prior years as of the processing date. The Delinquent Tax Roll lists property accounts with delinquent taxes for the past 20 years as of the processing date.

These files can include account numbers, taxpayer names and addresses, taxable value, exemptions, and levy amounts. The county says the files are formatted in fixed width ASCII only, with a file layout document available, and that no technical support or data interpretation is provided.

Tax rolls are created weekly on Saturdays and are posted the following Monday, excluding holidays.
