You can use the county’s official judicial record search page to look for case information online.

Need document copies instead of a case lookup? Contact the District Clerk for copy requests and payment instructions.

Get copies from the District Clerk

The District Clerk keeps district court pleadings, judgments, dockets, and other papers in district court civil and criminal cases. If you need copies of documents maintained by that office, you can send your request by email and the office will reply with the total fee and take payment by phone.

Regular copies can be emailed. Certified copies can be paid for by phone, then picked up in person or sent by mail for an additional $2 fee.

The District Clerk also notes that if you e-file a proposed order and a judge signs it after filing is accepted, you will not automatically receive a signed and conformed copy.

  • County Clerk: county court at law functions and county clerk services, including the County Court at Law Clerk’s office.
  • County Courts at Law: these courts handle class A and B misdemeanors, probate, guardianship, mental commitments, appeals from Justice and Municipal Courts, and some family and civil matters.

County Courts at Law records

For County Courts at Law matters, filings go through the Comal County Clerk’s Office. The Court Administrator does not accept filings.

These courts hear class A and B misdemeanors, probate matters, guardianships, mental commitments, and appeals from Justice and Municipal Courts. They also share jurisdiction with the district courts in some family law, juvenile, and civil matters.

If you need to work with a County Court at Law record, start with the clerk handling filings for that court rather than the courtroom itself.

If you need self-help forms or general legal information, the county points users to Texas Law Help. For in-person legal research, the Comal County Law Library offers public Lexis access, free printing and copies, and in-house research materials.

The law librarian can take resource requests by phone or email, but cannot give legal advice. Calling ahead is useful because library hours can change due to holidays or appointments.
