This page helps with an inmate search in Florida. It explains where to look, what the records can show, and which offices handle common follow-up questions.
For most statewide searches, start with the Florida Department of Corrections Offender Search Web Applications. That search can pull from inmate population, releases, escapes, supervised population, and absconder or fugitive records.
Florida Offender Search Web Applications
Use the statewide search when you want one official place to check Florida corrections records. It is the main public search option for inmate population, releases, escapes, supervised population, and absconder or fugitive records.
- Inmate name
- DC number
If your question is narrow, you can choose the specific database that matches the record type you need.
- Open the official offender search portal.
- Choose the combined search or the individual database that fits your question.
- Enter the inmate name or DC number.
- Review the result for custody, location, release, escape, or supervision details.
Note: the combined search only includes criteria shared across all listed databases, so some database-specific filters are not part of the single statewide search.

After you find an inmate
Visiting
Before you visit, you must become an approved visitor. If the inmate is eligible for visits, the weekly scheduling form is available from Monday 5:00 AM EST through Wednesday 5:00 PM EST, and walk-up appointments are not accommodated. Review the official visiting information for eligibility and scheduling rules.
Mail and calls
Routine inmate mail is processed through the central mail facility at PO Box 23608, Tampa, FL 33623. Inmates cannot receive incoming phone calls, but they may place collect calls. See the official contact options for mail, secure mail, and phone details.
Sending money
Approved visitors may send funds through Correct Pay. A newly received inmate may receive funds from any remitter for up to 60 days from the date of reception or until the automated visiting record is established, whichever occurs first. Review the official fund options for current payment methods and limits.

Common questions
Can I search all Florida corrections databases at once?
Yes. Florida offers one combined search that checks the Absconder/Fugitive, Inmate Escapes, Inmate Population, Inmate Releases, and Supervised Population databases. The combined search only uses criteria that those databases share.
How often is Florida inmate information updated?
It depends on the database. Inmate release information updates nightly. Inmate population, supervised population, and absconder or fugitive records are refreshed weekly, with some fields such as release dates, termination dates, and location changes updated nightly.
What if the result I need is missing or unclear?
Contact the office that handles that record type. For inmate population questions, use the Bureau of Classification and Central Records at (850) 488-9859. For release questions, use the Bureau of Admission and Release at (850) 488-9167.
Does the Florida escape search cover older cases?
Yes, but it has a limit. The escape search shows inmates who have escaped since January 1, 1990 and have not been recaptured within the past 15 days.
