This page helps you find Florida court records in the state’s appellate courts and understand what you can view online. It covers the main search options, when registration matters, and what to do if a document is not available.

For most appellate court lookups, Florida uses the Florida Appellate Case Information System, or ACIS. Public users can search dockets and available case documents without creating an account.

Florida Appellate Case Information System (ACIS)

ACIS is the statewide tool for Florida appellate court records. It covers the Florida Supreme Court and all six District Courts of Appeal.

  • Case Search can use a case number, case title, case category, filed date, and court.
  • Party Search can use a party role, name, and case information.
  • Document Search can use a document type, filed date, case category, and case information.

Use the official search tool to choose the search type that best matches the record you need.

  • Open the search portal for Florida appellate records.
  • Select Case Search, Party Search, Oral Argument Search, Document Search, or Publication Search.
  • Enter the available details and choose the correct court to narrow the results.
  • Sort or filter the results if you need to refine the list.
  • Open the case view screen or available document link from the results.

Case number format matters. In Case Search, the year must be entered as YYYY and the number after the year must use four digits, such as 2023-0003.

Public access and registration rules

Public access does not require registration. A public user can search ACIS, view basic docket information, and open publicly available case documents.

Registration becomes important when a user needs additional access to case information. Attorneys of record, judges, lower tribunal clerks, and self-represented litigants must register and log in to request access tied to their cases.

Registered access requests are reviewed by the clerk’s office. The system states that case access may take up to one business day after acceptance.

Viewing documents and record limits

Available documents can be opened from search results or from the Docket Entries tab in a case view screen. Access depends on the case and on the user’s access level.

Not every filing is immediately available for public view. Each court has its own policies on document availability, and some filings may not be viewable from the ACIS docket.

If a filing is not viewable in ACIS, the next step is to make a public records request to the clerk’s office of the applicable court.

Search tips for Florida appellate court records

Case Search is useful when you know the case number or title. Party Search helps when you are looking for records connected to a person or party role. Document Search is better when you need a filing type or want to narrow records by filed date.

ACIS also includes Oral Argument Search for court calendar events by location, department, date, and related criteria. The Florida Supreme Court separately offers a case information page for opinions, oral arguments, administrative orders, and case-related documents.

For Supreme Court matters, you can also use the Florida Supreme Court case information page to review available case-related resources.
